The 8917 AZ Portable Wind Speed Meter can measure the Air Speed, Air Velocity, Air Volume, Temperature, Humidity value, which is the best choice as the wind speed monitoring device in HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigerating) or industrial related application.
The portable 8917 AZ Air Flow Thermometer with Humidity has the 10 cm diameter vane type. It could attach to the specific air flow cone to measure the volume quickly. User just needs to install the compatible airflow cone, the meter will recognize the area for air volume calculations automatically. The air flow cone set has the round and square size, which could be met with most applications.

Q1: Why is the 10cm large vane of the AZ 8917 better than small ones?
A1: The 10cm large vane covers a wider area to average out air turbulence, providing more stable and accurate readings. Its larger surface also increases sensitivity to low-speed airflows that smaller anemometers often fail to detect.
Q2: Can the AZ 8917 measure air volume (CMM/CFM) directly?
A2: Yes. The 8917's 10cm head is specifically designed to fit with the optional AZ 8916RNL Airflow cone (flow hoods).
This allows for direct, precise air volume measurement at diffusers and grilles, eliminating the need for complex manual calculations.
Q3: Why is my AZ 8917 anemometer non-calibratable if the readings are significantly off after long time?
A3: If readings are highly inaccurate after using a long time, the vanes, shaft, or bearings may be physically deformed or worn.
Since these hardware damages alter the linear response of the AZ 8917 anemometer, software calibration cannot restore factory precision.
In such cases, we recommend replacing the unit to ensure safety and measurement integrity.
